Online dating is much preferred nowadays, at least at the beginning of a relationship. It can be a rewarding and fun experience for all women regardless of age. While online dating does provide for a little more security than in real world, there are certain pitfalls which you could avoid if you security conscious and wise.
Firstly, online dating may turn out to be dangerous if you are too generous when it comes to your personal information. You should not give sensitive information such as your full name, phone number and address away to a stranger whom you have just met online. Always let the men reveal everything about themselves and try to remain mysterious until you can trust them. To be thorough, verify the information they gave you. This way you can separate the honest guys from the fraud ones. There is no reason for them to lie unless they have ulterior motives.
Try to keep to the tools provided by the dating service that you subscribe to. Do not offer your personal Instant Messengers IDs recklessly. Also it is good practice to have several emails, some are for mere acquaintances while others are for more personal friends, relatives and family members. Needless to say, you should store less amount of sensitive information on the email account used to interact with people you have just known.
If you have reached the first face-to-face meeting stage, make sure you are meeting him in a public place during day light hours. You can even bring along a friend or arrange for someone to call your cell soon after the meeting is scheduled to end just to be sure of your safety. It is good to let your relatives or housemates know where you are going for that meeting.
Do remember that you are the one in control. Do not loose up your defenses no matter how charming the man may be. Once he sees that you are willing to comply to something he asks, he may take advantage to demand for more. Therefore, treat all men the same and do not let anyone pressure you into doing something you would rather not.
